Hepatitis B and C Care
Training by Joy Peter Foundation
In collaboration with Gilead Sciences, Joy Peter Foundation successfully organized a training program for the Kaduna State Ministry of Health to address the rising challenge of Hepatitis B and C. The training, conducted across three healthcare facilities, including the Department of Hepatitis and HIV, aimed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals in combating these life-threatening diseases.
During the training, the Ministry of Health highlighted an alarming statistic: the prevalence of Hepatitis in Kaduna State has increased by 40%, surpassing the rate of HIV. This underscores the urgent need for targeted interventions and capacity building in the fight against viral hepatitis.
Together, we are working to reduce the burden of Hepatitis B and C and ensure a healthier future for all.
Key Objectives of the Training:
1) Epidemiological Awareness: Educating participants on the increasing burden of Hepatitis B and C in Kaduna State and its implications for public health.
2) Improved Diagnostics: Introducing modern tools and strategies to enhance the early detection and diagnosis of hepatitis cases.
3) Effective Management: Equipping healthcare workers with WHO-recommended treatment protocols to ensure better patient outcomes.
4) Public Health Advocacy: Emphasizing the importance of vaccination, public awareness campaigns, and community-based prevention strategies.
